Title: Traffic Engineering Extension for OSPFv3

1
Traffic Engineering Extension for OSPFv3

2
OSPFv3
  • Weve learned many things from OSPFv2 experience
  • Topology information and IP address information
    is completely separated
  • New LS Type can be added with flooding scope
    without using Opaque LSA
  • Router-LSA specifies link information with
Neighbor Interface ID and Neighbor Router ID
  • Now is the time to get benefit from clean OSPFv3
    protocol framework

3
Intra-Area-TE LSA
  • New LS type Intra-Area-TE LSA is added
  • LSA function code is 10
  • Flooding scope is Area Scoping
  • U-bit is set to 1. So even the router does not
understand TE LSA, the LSA should be flooded
  • Intra-Area-TE LS Type is 0xa00a
  • LS ID is Interface ID of the link

4
OSPFv3 TE TLV
  • OSPFv3 TE refers OSPFv2 TE
    (draft-katz-yeung-ospf-traffic) as a basement TLV
    document
  • New Link TLVs sub-TLVs are added

5
Router Address TLV
  • In OSPFv3, Router Address TLV should be a Router
    ID of the advertising router
  • The address is not a real IP address
  • The address is not a reachable IP address

6
Link TLV
  • Link TLV describes a single link
  • Almost OSPFv2 Link ID sub-TLV can be applicable
    to OSPFv3
  • Link ID sub-TLV is not enough to identify a link
    in OSPFv3
  • Instead of Link ID sub-TLV, Neighbor ID sub-TLV
    is introduced
  • IPv6 address sub-TLVs are added for IPv6

7
OSPFv3 Router-LSA
8
Neighbor ID sub-TLV
  • Neighbor ID sub-TLV Neighbor Interface ID
  • Neighbor
    Router ID
  • Neighbor Interface ID is Interface ID of the
neighbor router (or the attached links DR for
    Type 2 interfaces).
  • Neighbor ID is Router ID of the neighbor router
(or the attached links DR for Type 2
    interfaces).

9
IPv6 address sub-TLVs
  • Local Interface IPv6 address sub-TLV
  • Remote Interface IPv6 address sub-TLV
  • Link-local IPv6 address should not be advertised.
