My teacher was selected as a member of a special
group of teachers to attend space camp training
as a member of the NASA Stars last summer.

She made it possible for my entire class to go to
camp because of her attendance. My class was
excited. We had s lot of ac tivities to complete
at school before we went to camp November 678.

We got a book and a composition book before we
left to tell us about camp. Everyone had to work
in small groups making patches and then we
decided on the best.

We had to complete some pretest activities before
we went to camp. Finally the day came to go!
Boy oh boy! I couldn t sleep the night before I
was so excited.

My mom got film for my camera. We had to go to
school that morning and didnt leave until noon.
My class got to eat early.

We took a Space Center bus to camp. My teacher
rode the bus with us and some counselors from
camp. When we got there we were given our linen
and habitat assignments.the girls stayed across
the hall with Mrs. Mcmillan and Mrs. Smith.

They told us what not to do who our counselors
were and to have fun. Gee! That list of dont do
things was long!

We made our beds and put our bags in the room.
Our roomwas downstairs. Next we went back to the
first building and sat for a meeting. With the
counselors.

Our counselors were two guys named Brent and
Carlos. Carlos was from South America and
sometimes we had trouble understanding the way he
talked.

She let us wear them for a group picture out in
Rocket Park. Then we got to ride the Space Shot
and have lessons about the different rockets out
in the park.

We then went into the museum to study some of the
exhibits and after that had supper. After that we
went to the Astro trek building to ride the
simulators.

We made rockets to shoot on Friday morning. We
enjoyed the simulators . Some of the girls got
scared on the chair.

The rockets took a lot of time. After that we
went into an auditorium in a habitat to learn
about the shuttle. So much to learn and we were
getting sleepy because it was getting so late!!

The next day was a lot of work because we had so
much material to learn for the space bowl. It
was just like school except that we were at camp.
The camp food was good and there was lots of it.

My teacher had a birthday that day and we got
have a piece of her cake after supper that night
before we went to study the shuttle parts again.

Later she had a study session with us on the
shuttle to get ready for the space bowl on
Friday.

Friday we did several things before the
graduation including going to shoot the rockets
we made. Then we saw a really good IMAX movie in
the theater. We finally got to go shopping for
souvenirs. Kids parents started to arrive for the
graduation ceremonies while we were shopping.

Graduation was really neat. We wore our space
camp t-shirts our navy sweatpants and our red
space camp caps. They wouldn t let us wear our
caps into for the graduation though.

When Carlos and Brent called our team name we
went up on the stage. They gave us envelopes with
our certificates a cd and our group picture..

After that we went and picked up our bags and
got on the bus to go b ack to school . We had
lunch on the bus

When we got back to school it was nearly time to
go home. We sure were tired after a great trip!

Can you guess what the best class field trip
that I ever attended was It was my class trip
to Space Camp. It was really fun.

My teacher was selected as a member of The
NASA Stars to attend Space Camp training last
summer. Her attendance made it possible for my
entire class to attend camp last fall. We went on
November 67 and 8 2002.

We had some camp activities to complete in
class before we left for camp. Finally the day
came to go. I was so excited that I couldnt
sleep that night before we left.

Space Camp was really fun. I liked
everything about it. The camp experience was one
that I will remember for life. The food was
great the rides were awesome and the activities
were like a live adventure.

I learned a lot about space the astronauts
rockets and the shuttle missions that I did not
know. Hopefully my mother will take me to the
Space Center this weekend.
