pole in Mnaida ward Mikindani recently. The car
was traveling back to Kitangali Mission from
Mtwara when it suffered a blow out in the front
left wheel, lost control and hit a power pole
before stopping in a ditch in front of Ten
Degrees Guest House. Eye witnesses reported that
they saw the driver trying desperately to steer
his car way from the right hand side of the road.
He was lucky said Martin from Ten Degrees, If
he had gone to the right, into the ocean, it
wouldnt have been good. Inside the car were
friends and relatives of Catholic sisters who had
just made vows to be nuns. The car was returning
from a ceremony at Mtwaras St Paul Peters
Parish when the accident accorded. The Land Rover
4WD was only traveling at a speed of 50 km,
however it had enough speed to snap the power
pole in two and for some time live wires hung
dangerously close to the bewildered passengers
and bystanders. I was very scared, said one
passenger, but thanks to God and our driver, no
body was hurt.

SCHOOL FACES TEACHER SHORTAGE By Mussa
Abdallah Mikindani Secondary School, Mtwara
region, faces a big problem of teachers. The lack
of teachers and classrooms has made some of the
schools 360 students decide to apply for
transfers to other better schools. Students from
the school complained that they have been
suffering adverse conditions since the school was
officially opened in 2005. It is reported that
recently at least three teachers have left the
school for various reason and have not been
replaced. An anonymous member of staff did
acknowledge that the school is facing a teacher
shortage at the moment but added that the
schools management have already consulted the
Regional Education Department about the problem.
