There will be 232 in the Year Group.

• They will be in 8 mixed ability Form Groups and 8
  Teaching Sets based on information from Primary
  Schools.

This year we have received students from the

• Blakehill, Bramhope, Calverley C of E,
• Calverley Parkside, Farsley Farfield, Ghyll Royd,
• Greengates, Grove House, Idle C of E, Newlaithes,
  
• North East SILC, Our Lady and St. Brendans,
  Queensway, Rawdon Littlemoor, Rawdon St Peters,
• Rufford Park, St. Margarets,
• St Oswalds, Thackley, Wellington, West End,
  Westbrook, Westfield and Wyburns.

Buses

• All students who come to school on a bus will
  require a half fare bus pass.
• These are available from the Post Office.

School BusesMorning Service

• The L25 and L27 leave Rodley at around
• 7.40 a.m. and travel through Calverley,
  Greengates and Apperley Bridge to school.
• The L21 services Thackley, Idle and arrives at
  Greengates around 7.55 a.m.

School BusesAfternoon Service

• The L21, L25 and L27 leave the school bus park at
  2.55 p.m. each day.
• The 747 service bus travels down to Greengates
  for those who miss the
• school specials.

Induction to Benton Park School

• To date 229 of the 232 new entrants have been
  seen at least once but in 200 cases three times
  in their home Primary School as preparation for
  transfer in September 2008

Induction to Benton Park School

• Some pupils have been part of the transfer TAG
  group. These pupils have made a number of visits
  to the school.

• All new students have been given the chance to
  name friends who they would like to be with in
  their Registration/Form Group.

Transition Morning

• Tuesday 1st July 2008 9.30 -12.00
• For all pupils who have not yet visited Benton
  Park for a transition visit.
• Parents are requested to bring their child to
  reception at 9.30 a.m. and collect at 12.00 noon.

The Year 7 Curriculum

• All students do exactly the same subjects with
  the exception of French and Spanish. Half the
  year do French and half Spanish. Unless there
  are exceptional circumstances we do not give a
  choice. Where a parent requests a language it
  may not be possible to keep friends together.

Setting

• Technology and Science sets are mixed ability.
• PSHCE groups are form group based
• All other sets are based on Key Stage 2
  performance.

Additional or Health Needs

• Please make Mrs OGrady or Mr Hoban aware of any
  particular circumstances which you think may
  affect your child in school.

Pupils who are on the waiting list.

• Please make Mr Hoban aware if you are on our
  waiting list or are appealing for a place in
  September 2008.

School Uniform

• PC Sports and Rawcliffes have school uniform
  displays and sales in the entrance hall this
  evening.
• School calculators are on sale in the entrance
  hall priced 4.
• The Art Department will be selling Art packs to
  students in September price 7.
• (A3 folder, scissors, 2B pencil, sharpener,
  eraser, fine liner, 12 coloured pencils, ruler,
  A4 sketchbook, Pritt stick.)

EducationTimeline

• Your son/daughter will do Key Stage
  3 SATs in May 2011.
• They will do GCSEs or similar in June 2013.
• A levels or similar will be in June 2015
• and by June 2018 they could have their first
  Degree!
