The Throne of Grace
  • The throne of God
  • Ps 8914, Righteousness and justice are the
    foundation of your throne love and faithfulness
    go before you.
  • God is the source of these things
  • At the throne is found kindness, mercy and
    benevolence

Approach the Throne
  • Let us draw near Let us come
  • Priestly expression
  • Lev 2117-18, 21, Say to Aaron 'For the
    generations to come none of your descendants who
    has a defect may come near to offer the food of
    his God. No man who has any defect may come near
    no man who is blind or lame, disfigured or
    deformedNo descendant of Aaron the priest who
    has any defect is to come near to present the
    offerings made to the LORD by fire.
  • Priest were to approach God with worship
  • Now, priestly privilege of access to God is
    extended to Christians.
  • Leviticus on certain individuals
  • But now, in Christ we ALL may approach the
    throne with worship and prayer!

With Confidence

    subject in a town assembly
  • Only full citizen had this right
  • In Hebrews it stands for our freedom to stand
    before God without hesitation or inhibition
  • Heb 1019-22, Therefore, brothers, since we have
    confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the
    blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened
    for us through the curtain, that is, his body,
    and since we have a great priest over the house
    of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere
    heart in full assurance of faith, having our
    hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty
    conscience and having our bodies washed with pure
    water.

  • Because we have a High Priest
  • 414, Therefore, since we have a great high
    priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus
    the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith
    we profess.

Sympathetic High Priest
  • Heb 415, For we do not have a high priest who
    is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but
    we have one who has been tempted in every way,
    just as we are-- yet was without sin.

Mercy and Grace
  • 416, Let us then approach the throne of grace
    with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and
    find grace to help us in our time of need.
  • We need two things in our lives
  • Mercy- forgiveness of sin
  • Grace- Gods favor to help us

    gives me strength.
  • I Jn 19, If we confess our sins, he is faithful
    and just and will forgive us our sins and purify
    us from all unrighteousness.
  • Eph 316-20, I pray that out of his glorious
