12 What is the Single Conversation? Do you see the
Partnership having a role in this? What do you
need from us to engage early and effectively?
How does your plan to engage with Somerset as
a Single Conversation zone relate to housing
market areas? What is the role of HCA funding?
Is it to provide additionality or for mainstream
funding? Do you have/will you use land
assembly powers? Can you fund early site
infrastructure with subsequent clawback of
funding? What is your view on achieving
affordable housing targets given phasing agreed
for large sites and current viability?
13Embedding the place-based model of working
- Implementing the Single Conversation (half of the
areas in each region and at least two Local
Investment Plan in each region by March 2010) - Regional business planning including
identification of place-based investment
priorities - Engagement with regional Ministers and GOs
- Close working with RDAs, Local Authorities and
other partners
14The Single Conversation and the Future
- The Taunton and South Somerset Housing Market
Partnership needs to work closely with other
partners across the county to pull together the
evidence base to sustain the investment plan
objectives. The existing Housing Needs and other
information is vital to prove the where the
investment should go. - Time is short the first scoping session which
will be at a county level (with district input)
will be in July. - The TSSHMP will need to engage after the initial
scoping meeting and feed into the working groups
that pull together the evidence to draw up the
Investment Plan and later the Investment
Agreement. - The input needs to look at the total needs of the
county including community and economic outputs
to maximise the use of public funding from
health, education and business in addition to
housing and community needs.
