Title: The Prize

The Prize
We live in a society full of idols
Our aspirations become the idols that lead us
nowhere because they are made by the hands of man
and not by the hand of God.
not the ones crafted out of wood or stone or
steel, but the ones that call out to us for our
devotion

The God on Whom We
  • of Waiting

Wait
(Psa 1154-8) Their idols are silver and gold,
made by the hands of men. They have mouths, but
cannot speak
(Psa 1154-8) eyes, but they cannot see they
have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but they
cannot smell they have hands, but cannot feel
(Psa 1154-8) feet, but they cannot walk nor
can they utter a sound with their throats...
(Psa 1154-8) Those who make them will be like
them, and so will all who trust in them.
In fact, the most obvious purpose of Satan in
offering us idols is not just to absorb us in
useless things
Where we spend our time,
Where we absorb our energies,
Where we pour our lives.
But to blind us from knowing God...
And to drag us away from waiting on Him

The God on Whom We Wait

The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of
the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or
weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.

And the most significant impact of waiting on God
The most significant evidence of truly knowing
God is truly
The God on Whom We Wait
is to become as He is.
worshipping Him
This is called the doctrine of Communion

The God on Whom We Wait
Wait
(Isa 4029-31) ...Even youths grow tired and
weary, and young men stumble and fall
(Isa 4029-31) ...but those who hope in wait
upon the LORD will renew their strength
  • (Isa 4029-31) He gives strength to the weary and
increases the power of the weak

(Isa 4031) They will soar on wings like eagles
they will run and not grow weary, they will walk
and not be faint.
Would you aspire to wait upon Him?
And the most significant impact of waiting on God
The Strength that Waiting Brings
is to become as He is.
He gives
Power despite our physical limitations
Perseverance beyond our own ability to endure
Provision beyond our own resources
This is called the doctrine of Communion
