The Doctrine of Baptisms
2
The Doctrine of Baptisms
Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine
of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again
a foundation of repentance from dead works and of
faith toward God, and of instruction about
washings, the laying on of hands, the
resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
And this we will do if God permits. Hebrews
61-3

The Doctrine of Baptisms
Common View It will be observed that the plural
form is used here baptisms. There are two
baptisms whose necessity is taught by the
Christian religion baptism by water, and by the
Holy Ghost the first of which is an emblem of
the second. (Albert Barnes, Notes on the New
Testament, Hebrews, 126)
BUT Acts 812-17 Water baptism was before
they received the Holy Spirit!
