Title: Principle of Responsibility

1
Principle of Responsibility Gaining a Clear
Conscience
2
Why is a Clear Conscience important?
Paul advice to Timothy
1 Tim 119 - Timothy, my son, I give you this
instruction in keeping with the prophecies once
made about you, so that by following them you may
fight the good fight, holding on to faith and a
good conscience. Some have rejected these and so
have shipwrecked their faith.
3
What is a Clear Conscience?
A good conscience is one that allows me to look
every person in the eye knowing that not one of
them can point a finger and say, You wronged me
and you never tried to make it right.
4
A Good (agatos) Conscience
  • A strong and healthy conscience
  • 1 Tim 15 - The goal of this command is love,
which comes from a pure heart and a good
    conscience and a sincere faith.

5
A Good (agatos) Conscience
  • 1 Pet 316 - keeping a clear conscience, so that
those who speak maliciously against your good
behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their
    slander.
  • Void of Offense - Acts 2416 - So I strive always
to keep my conscience clear before God and man.

6
A Pure (kataros) Conscience
  • 1 Tim 39 - They (deacons) must keep hold of the
deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience.

7
A Pure (kataros) Conscience
  • Not stained with guilt toward God
  • Heb 914 - How much more, then, will the blood of
Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered
himself unblemished to God, cleanse our
consciences from acts that lead to death, so that
we may serve the living God!

8
What does a good conscience involve?
1. Every Thought - 2 Cor 105 - We demolish
arguments and every pretension that sets itself
up against the knowledge of God, and we take
captive every thought to make it obedient to
Christ.
9
What does a good conscience involve?
2. Every Word - Matt 1236 - But I tell you that
men will have to give account on the day of
judgment for every careless word they have spoken.
10
What does a good conscience involve?
3. Every Deed - 2 Cor 510 - For we must all
appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that
each one may receive what is due him for the
things done while in the body, whether good or
bad.
11
What does a good conscience involve?
4. Every Attitude - Pro 613-14 - who winks with
his eye, signals with his feet and motions with
his fingers, who plots evil with deceit in his
heart-- he always stirs up dissension.
12
What does a good conscience involve?
5. Every Motive - Jer 179-10 - The heart is
deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who
can understand it? "I the LORD search the heart
and examine the mind, to reward a man according
to his conduct, according to what his deeds
deserve."

Steps to Gain a Good Conscience
3. Purpose to ask forgiveness

confession, the more likely to justify
