7Pre-HSEN Modernization
- Disparate network infrastructure from combining
four agencies networks. - Windows security was flat domain administrator

infrastructure and no workstation management. - Inability to support new applications being
development by the agencies.

9Post-HSEN Modernization
- Modernization upgraded all data circuits,
switches, routers, communications gear,
File/Print and Exchange servers at the central
site and in all remote HSEN sites. - Established a more granular security architecture
that has specific rights for specific functions,
such as server officer, workstation officer. - Established a single Windows domain with agency
Organizational Unit (OU) structures customized to
each agency established centralized
messaging/email services. - Network is fully managed, from communications
infrastructure to workstations, including remote
control of desktop. - Established an infrastructure to support new
State agencies applications, such as imaging. - Modernization project ended on-time and over 5
million under budget.
