- On Sunday March 31st, the VoIP Hurricane Net
Management team visited with WX4NHC Coordinator
John McHugh-K4AG and Assistant WX4NHC
Coordinator, Julio Ripoll-WD4R. - Goal was for a tour of facility and to meet to
discuss issues for the 2008 Hurricane Season. - Members of the VoIP Hurricane Net Management team

7Meeting Discussions
- Meeting focused on several issues in which the
VoIP Hurricane Net Management team could help - Dedicated proxy for the WX4NHC setup. (Tony
Langdon-VK3JED has completed this work already
for us.) - Resurrecting the CARMEN Project. Dennis-K2DCD to
review via various means. - PR Push to get people more active in giving
surface reports to WX4NHC by any means possible. - New technologies for EchoLink and IRLP that are
available that VoIP Technical Coordinator, Tony
Langdon-VK3JED is working on implementing. Tony
was patched into the meeting to discuss this
directly with Julio and John.

the audience from Florida and the other half from
other areas. - Presentation was broken up into 3 parts.
- WX4NHC Amateur Radio Operations including the
Hurricane Watch Net - VoIP Hurricane Net
- Amateur Radios new role in gathering disaster

30Stormy Study Participation in the National
Hurricane Conference
- Storm Study participated in the National
Hurricane Conference in varying capacities
including - Spreading the word on preparing for hurricanes
and storms through the Energizer
Plan/Prepare/Protect program to many media
outlets. - Representation from Storm Study at the Amateur
Radio Workshop by IRLP Net Manager and Storm
Study Team Member, Danny Musten-KD4RAA. - Interviewing National Hurricane Center Director
Bill Read-KB5FYA where Bill emphasizes the
significant importance of Amateur Radio to
reporting and forecasting hurricanes and is also
there where all else fails.

- The National Hurricane Conference and visit to
WX4NHC was extremely helpful to push the message
for Amateur Radio to remain relevant in being
there when all else fails and providing disaster
intelligence/situational awareness before it
fails. - The Conference created great visibility for
WX4NHC Operations, the VoIP Hurricane Net, the
Storm Study Team and the Hurricane Watch Net.
