  • RAS/7/016
  • RAS/8/106
  • ROK/06/001

4
RCA Projects of Dalat Nuclear Research Institute
RAS/4/026 Project Co-ordinator Prof. Nguyen Nhi
Dien Subject Adding Value to Materials through
Irradiation with Neutrons Duration 2007 -
2008 Results - Carrying out the experiments on
irradiation of Topaz stone samples with neutrons
in the rotary rack of the Dalat research reactor
with irradiation time from 30 hours to 150 hours.
5
RCA Projects of Dalat Nuclear Research Institute
  • RAS/4/026 (cont)
  • - After heat processing, the such Topaz
irradiated by gamma in Co-60 irradiator with the
dose rate of 25 kGy/h. The total dose was
    (60-70)x103 kGy.
  • - The results obtained show that the combination
irradiation of neutron and gamma permits to
reduce the irradiation of neutrons to 50 hours,
so the radioactivity in the samples decreased,
    about 0,2 ?Sv/h/cara.
  • Reduction of a significant decay time.

6
RCA Projects of Dalat Nuclear Research Institute
  • RAS/4/026 (cont)
  • Advantages
  • Neutron irradiation and combining with other
methods heat processing and gamma irradiation
  • Disadvantages
  • Neutron irradiation of Topaz
  • - with limited dimension (lt3cm in diameter)
  • without Cd shielding (in and out of the core)

7

Manufacturing Practices ( GRP and GMP )
  • Duration 2007 - 2008
  • Results
  • QA/QC for
  • ? Organization and Personnel
  • ? Facility and Equipment
  • ? Manufacturing
  • ? Quality Control
  • ? Documentation

8
RCA Projects of Dalat Nuclear Research Institute
RAS/2/013 (Cont) Advantages - The production
and distribution of radioisotopes and
radiopharmaceuticals have been practical
experienced since 1984 - Applications of nuclear
techniques in medicine have been widely developed
in Vietnam - Carrying out 3 national projects on
nuclear medicine centre with Cyclotron-PET and 1
national project on plan of a new production line
( I-131 ) .
9
RCA Projects of Dalat Nuclear Research Institute
RAS/2/013 (Cont) Disadvantages - Qualified
manpower shortage - Modern devices shortage. -
Long geographical position of country
10
RCA Projects of Dalat Nuclear Research Institute

Trong Ngo Subject Establishing a Benchmark for
Assessing the Radiological Impact of Nuclear
Power Activities on the Marine Environment in the
Asia-Pacific region Duration 2007 -
2008 Results - Collecting of marine
environment samples at 2 selected sites of
NinhThuan Province in 2008 Sea water samples,
Sea water samples(900 liters/site), Sea sediments
(3-5 kgs/site), Sea foods (5-10 kgs/site),
Seaweeds (10 kgs/site).
11
RCA Projects of Dalat Nuclear Research Institute
RAS/7/016 (cont) - Quantitative analysis of
radionuclides concentration of the
samples. Advantage Support of a national project
on Assessment of Marine Environmental
Radioactivity Status for two selected sites of
Nuclear Power Plant in the near future at
Ninhthuan Province, from 2008-2009.
Disadvantage Financial shortages
12
RCA Projects of Dalat Nuclear Research Institute
  • RAS/8/106
  • Project Co-ordinator Mr. Le Hai
  • Subject Radiation Processing Applications for
    Health and the Environment
  • Duration 2007 - 2008
  • Results
  • Degradation of natural polysaccharide such as
chitosan, alginate to prepare plant growth
promoter and protector for agricultural use, and
    fractionation oligochitosan for medical use.
