COURSE DESCRIPTIONThis course is concerned with
the analysis of Cross-Cultural Issues in relation
to Human Resources. The course provides an
overview of how Human Resources are shaped in a
Global Market. It looks at the role of production
fragmentation, transaction cost economics on a
global labor market as well as market signalling
and agency theory in a cross-cultural
environment.
8
TEACHING METHOD The material covered in
lectures will generally correspond to the
material assigned in the readings, although the
lectures will often present the material from a
different point of view, in a synthetic or more
compact way. Lectures should be viewed as
complements to, rather than as substitutes for
the reading. There will also be discussion
sections.
9
TEACHING METHOD ctndThe discussion sections are
an integral part of the course, and your
contribution is expected. They will be used to
expand on ideas presented in the text and in
lectures, to discuss various problems that may
arise as a result of the lecture input and as a
time for you to ask questions about anything that
you would like clarified.
10
TEACHING METHOD ctndIn discussion critical
analysis skills will receive the most
appreciation. Value judgemental statements,
personal (common senseor folk knowledge)
opinions and cliche truisms are discouraged as
are overgeneralizations, stereotypical views and
waffle.
11
EVALUATION METHOD There will be project work
(counting for 60).There will also be a final
exam (counting for 40), but you can improve your
mark through participation in discussion (up to
10).The exam will consist of two parts a quiz
section (A) and an essay section (B). Both
sections are worth 50 each.
