Policies () 1st May 2006 to December 2008 (for
32 months) EU subvention (mobility costs,
coordination) 599 947 euros Coordinator
CETIOM (France)
  • Objective
  • To define a common vision for the future of
research and development related to arable crops

() FP6 Priority 8.1 Scientific Support to
Policies (SSP) / 8.1.B.1.1 Modernisation and
sustainability of agriculture and forestry,
including their multifunctional role, to ensure
the sustainable development and promotion of
rural areas / Task 6 - Crop specific concerted
action arable crops

EUROCROP - Summary
  • Setting up a network with all stakeholders
  • to organize a collective research needs analysis
to improve the European arable crop
    competitiveness
  • to propose research actions
  • Cross-cutting approach
  • by arable crop cereals, oilseeds, sugar beets,
fibre crops, potatoes, grain legumes and maize
  • by transversal elements of the competitiveness
technical aspects at farming level, farm
economics and production costs, outlets and
markets, quality of agricultural products and
    environmental impacts
  • To deliver
  • a set of research proposals re arable crops
  • a European network of specialists to be continued

WP1 GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS Managed by the PADCO
Lead by CETIOM (PROLEA, EURAGRI, ESA, EFMA,
ECPA, COPA/COGECA, ORGECO, FEFAC, CEMA assoc
Gruppo183, CIAA, CEFIC) General specifications
(socio-political guidelines indicators) Set
of indicators to assess proposals (prioritise
research action proposals) Validation of the
proposals Three workshops
Common questions Eight workshops Analysis
(synergies, divergence, recommandations)
6
EUROCROP WP1
  • Objectives
  • To prioritise research actions proposals
  • Tasks
  • To define socio-political guidelines and
indicators to address research issues at
individual crop level and horizontal thematic
    level.
  • To benchmark and strengthen successively the WP2
and WP3 conclusions, and to validate the final
    report enriched with comments
  • Three stakeholder board workshops (beginning /
    mid term / end)
  • Deliverables
  • D1.1 Handbook to manage the thinking under
    EUROCROP
  • D1.2 Intermediary report validated analysis of
    research needs / crop
  • D1.3 Validated analysis of research needs
    analysis crossed by horizontal themes
  • D1.4 Final report enriched from comments
received in the feedback conference (WP4)

7
EUROCROP WP2
  • Objectives
  • To draw the specifications of the issues to be
addressed by research for each crop chain
  • To identify the common issues and divergences
    among different crop chains.
  • Tasks
  • Preliminary method and questions about research
    needs
  • Eight WG per crop sector
  • Consolidated analysis to identify common RDT
    priorities, synergies and divergences
  • Deliverables
  • D2.1 Discussion paper Research needs in a crop
chain perspective general framework and key
    questions
  • D2.2a-h Proceedings Crop chain workshops
    proceedings
  • D2.3 Final WP report Consolidated analysis of
crop chain approach common and specific
    research needs for arable crops

8
EUROCROP WP3
  • Objectives
  • To draft a set of thematic research proposals in
answer to the issues raised in WP2 and to the
    issues coming from transversal aspects,
  • To rank those proposals according to their
efficacy to improve competitiveness, their chance
and delay of fulfilment, their estimated cost
benefit ratio and recognize the more promising as
    a priority
  • Tasks
  • Summarise the key questions from WP2 workshops
    into document for thematic analysis.
  • Workshops per themes to reach consensus document
describing research priorities and guidelines for
    research implementation.
  • Consolidate analysis of horizontal analysis to
    identifying research priorities, ranked according
to their chance and delay of fulfilment, their
estimated cost benefit ratio and more generally
to the indicators defined in WP1. Guidelines and
suggestions for research organisations will be
    also elaborated.
