Purpose
  • To find out how many students knew about the
    resources available to them by the Office of
    Career Services.
  • To find out how many students at the University
    of South Maine utilize the resources offered by
    the Office of Career Services.

Research Method
  • Limited Qualitative Study which provided insight
    into the views of the students. (40 students
    surveyed)
  • Quantitative Study in which we were able to
    gather more information on the students. (200
    students surveyed)

  • 30.5 On Campus
  • 67 Off Campus
  • 43 male
  • 56 female
  • 15 freshmen
  • 19 sophomores
  • 19.5 juniors
  • 43 were seniors
  • 82.5 were between the ages of 18-23
  • Percentages based on valid responses

Hypothesis Before Data Analysis
  • Students living on campus are more likely to use
    Career Services.
  • Upper-classmen are most likely to utilize the
    services.
  • Females more knowledgeable about Career Services.

Key Findings
  • Class Standing determines use.
  • Gender does not affect use of services.
  • Students who live on campus use Career Services
    more than off campus residents.
  • Students who heard positive feedback were more
    likely to use the services.
  • Students are not any more likely to use Career
    Services if they have not determined a career
    than if they have determined a career.
  • Students are more likely to recommend Career
    Services to their friends if they have had a
    positive experience with the department.
  • The decision to use Career Services is not
    affected after learning about the benefits it has
    to offer individually or as a whole.
