Production Technology and Specification of TMT Bar
Rashtriya TMT Rebars are of excellent quality
because they are made of tested billets and state
of the art quenching system. The mill complies to
TEMPCORE standards. Directly after the last
rolling stand the surface of steel bars goes
through an intensive quick water cooling in TMT
machine. The rapid temperature reduction of the
bar periphery convents the surface layer of steel
bars to a hardened surface structure. The
intensive quenching is followed by atmospheric
cooling so that the temperature between the hot
core and outer cooled surface layer gets tempered
from the heat of the core. The hardened
structure is a martensite zone at the periphery
and a fine grain ferrite pearlite structure in
the central zone.

Advantages of Rashtriya TMT
Corrosion Resistance properties- Rashtriya TMT
Rebars controlled water cooling prevents the
formation of coarse carbides which has been cited
as the main cause for the corrosive nature of
common bars. Another reason for better corrosion
resistance properties is the absence of surface
torsional stresses caused by the cold twisting
process. Weldability Rashtriya TMT Rebars with
carbon content less than 0.25 can be used for
better and other welding joints without reduction
in strength at the weld joint. Bend
properties Rashtriya TMT Rebars have excellent
bend properties due to the unique ductility (
High elongation and tensile strength) Earthquake
resistance Rashtriya TMT Rebars with typical
elongation of (18-25)( well above the minimum
14.5 specified in is-1786-2008) are suitable for
use even in earthquake zones. Cost effective Use
of Rashtriya TMT Rebars results in saving of
(10-20) Formability Due to very high elongation
values as consistent properties throughout the
length of bars Rashtriya steel rebars have
excellent workability and bendability.
