Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton ChurchBiblical
Stewardship Program
2
Background
  • We asked Fr. John to answer 2 questions
  • Why are we doing this?
  • So that God can be Glorified through
  • us!
  • How are we doing this?
  • By Knowing God, Loving God, and
  • by Serving God.

3
Background
  • In the summer of 2005 Bishop Gainer initiated a
Diocesan wide Stewardship effort. He encouraged
each Parish to send representatives to a
Stewardship conference in Hershey, PA. Fr. Wil
sent Sr. Eileen, Kay Hatton and Donna Farquhar.
  • In the fall of 2005, Fr. John met with the group
who attended the conference in PA and a decision
was made to form a Stewardship Committee at St.
    Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.

4
Background (Continued)
  • In January 2006, a Stewardship Committee was
formed Fr. John shared his vision of Biblical
Stewardship for St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
  • The committee developed a vision statement, role
description for members, and a gift/qualities
    list for a Stewardship Council.
  • Interviews were conducted and in January 2007,
the first Stewardship Council meeting was held.

5
Background (Continued)
  • A statement was formulated defining Membership
Expectations in a Biblical Stewardship Parish,
and copies were mailed to all registered
parishioners. The terms Time, Talent and
Treasure were changed to Prayer, Ministry and
    Finance.
  • A subcommittee of the Council researched
Stewardship programs in other parishes both
inside and outside the Lexington Diocese.

Background (Continued)
  • In December of 2007, a presentation was made to
parish leadership committees, by Sarah Moore,
Development Director at St. Brigid of Kildare
Parish in Dublin, OH. Their Parish had organized
a successful Stewardship effort in 1999 and has
continued to build on their success.
  • In January 2008, Fr. John asked for a
    recommendation about moving forward. The
decision was made to hire a Development Director
at Seton and move forward with a formalized
    Stewardship effort.

8
Role of theDevelopment Director
  • Create and Implement a Strategic Development Plan
for St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish.
  • The most important aspect of this role is
    building and nurturing relationships with
parishioners parents of current, former and
future students local civic and business leaders
and area residents parish leadership and staff.
