an obstructed view to the rear unless
- The vehicle has a reverse signal alarm audible
above the surrounding noise level - or
- the vehicle is backed up with the use of a signal
person..

10Off-highway equipment with cabs shall be
- equipped with windshields

- Cracked glass must be replaced..
11Off-highway hauling equipment loaded with cranes,
shovels, loaders, etc.
- Must have a cab shield and/or canopy to protect
the operator from shifting or falling materials..
12Off-highway equipment to transport employees,
shall have
- A secured seat for each passenger
- A seat belt for each seat ..
13Pneumatic-tired earth-moving haulage equipment
(trucks, scrapers, tractors, and trailing units)
whose maximum speed exceeds 15 MPH shall be
equipped with fenders on all wheels
- Most pieces of equipment in operation today need
fenders..
14Material Handling Equipment (Scrapers, loaders,
trucks, motor graders, dozers, etc.)
- Shall have seat belts
- Seat belts not required if operated only in the
standup position - Seat belts not required if equipment does not
have ROPS..
15Earthmoving or compacting equipment with an
obstructed view to the rear is not permitted,
unless
- It has an operational reverse signal alarm
- or
- A signal person to provide directions..
16When Driving Piles in an Excavation
- Walls of the excavation to be sloped to the angle
of repose
17When the tops of driven piles are to be cut off
- Suspend pile driving operations
- or
- Cutting can proceed while driving piles provided
that the pile driving operation is at least 2
times the length of the longest pile from the
cutting operation
18Marine Equipment (Barge) shall have available or
be supplied with
- At least one U.S. Coast Guard approved 30-inch
lifering with at least 90 feet of line - At least one ladder to reach from the top of the
apron to the surface of the water..
19Employees walking or working on unguarded decks
of barges shall be protected with
- U.S. Coast Guard approved work vests
- or
- Buoyant vests..
