all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and
    Samaria, except the apostles.

Acts 1123 The Message
  • When the church in Jerusalem got wind of this,
they sent Barnabas to Antioch to check on things.
As soon as he arrived, he saw that God was behind
and in it all. He threw himself in with them, got
behind them, urging them to stay with it the rest
of their lives. He was a good man that way,
enthusiastic and confident in the Holy Spirit's
ways. The community grew large and strong in the
    Master.

21
Philippians 48-9 (NASB)
  • Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is
honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute,
if there is any excellence and if anything worthy
of praise, dwell on these things. The things you
have learned and received and heard and seen in
me, practice these things, and the God of peace
    will be with you.

22
The Jerusalem church shared one of their key
(wealthy) leaders.

Christ (anointed one, Messiah) belonging to
the party/group of people who belong to the
Messiah, or people whose chief business was
Christ. Christian is used only 2 other times in
the New Testament, Acts 2628 and 1 Peter 416.
30
Called ???µat??? chrematizo
To transact business, to have dealings with, in
the course of business to give an audience to or
an answer to, to give a divine oracle, warning or
advice. This word is used 9 times in the New
Testament, 7 of the 9 are clearly words from God.
It suggests that the community viewed the
believers as people who appeared to be like
Christ, and God was behind this naming.
