with an area of 922 sq. km. While in 2000, forest
of 67 national parks were burnt about 124 sq. km. - For 44 wildlife sanctuary, in 1999 and 2000
forests were burnt about 576 and 8 sq. km.

occurred in Ping Watershed with an area of 1,034
and 301 sq. km, respectively.

percent of the country.

18Conclusion
- Remote sensing and GIS appear to be
significant tools for assessment and monitoring
of burnt forest area. However, the integration of
remote sensing and GIS for developing a practical
early warning system for forest fire management
is more necessary and very significant.
