  incorporate us into the work of Jesus.

  incorporation into the new life in Jesus.

  our life in Him.

• This is the reversal of our sinful
  self-dependence, the concrete realization of our
  relatedness to God.

• C. Faith is Acknowledgment and Obedience
• God does not denude humans of their action, but
  by the Spirit creates the space for us to act in
  freedom.
• Wesleyans speak of this as Gods prevenient
  grace, Gods grace given to us that makes
  possible our actions in response.

  Salvation
• One of the Spirits primary roles Scripturally
  is the mediation of life and salvation.
• Why is this essential?
• Otherwise, we will locate the possibilities for
  salvation in our own capacities.
• There is an appropriate human response, but it is
  a response made possible by God.

• This is anticipated in the OT (Psalm 336
  Proverbs 8 Genesis 12, 27 Psalm 10430-31).
• Already in the OT, the Spirits creative power is
  expressed as recreating as well. (Ezekiel 379)

• In the New Testament, the Spirit mediates new
  life as well as life in the present. (John
  112-13, 35-8 Galatians 429)
• The Spirit is not opposed to the material, but is
  its perfecter. (Romans 811 1st Peter 318)

• As the Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead,
  the Spirit bespeaks of Gods actions within the
  created order, not merely over against it.
• The power and presence of the Spirit bespeaks new
  possibilities as we are incorporated into the
  ongoing life of the risen Jesus of Nazareth.
