What is the Imperfect?

• Its the past that happened continually/repeatedly
  (ie, Every Monday, I went swimming.)
• What you were like in the past or what you used
  to do in the past(I was short. OR I played
  games.)
• Its an action in progress in the past. It
  translates was/were doing

Preterite

• The preterite is used to talk about a once
  completed action. Words such as ayer, anteayer,
  el otro día, etc.words that indicate that the
  actions happened only during that moment.
• The start/end of actions are preterite.
