    rice which doubles on cooking is grown since
    centuries in a particular area of Punjab.
  • Identified in 1923 by Rice Research Station KSK
    from village KoloTarrar, District Hafizabad,
    Punjab.
  • First Basmati variety registered as Basmati-370
    in 1933.
  • Basmati Pak in1968, Basmati-385 in1985, Super
    Basmati in1996 Shaheen Basmati and Basmati-2000
    in 2000
