The Paradigm of the Biopsychology of
Consciousness

1. At the end of the 20th century a new
kind of science was born - - The
Science of Consciousness This
happened in 1996 at the Conference of the
Consciousness, in Tucson, USA 2. The most
important disciplines with significant results in
the research of the consciousness and
self-consciousness - 3 main groups a.
psychology, bio-psychology, neuropsychology,
neurobiology, psychiatry, cognitive
science b. philosophy (philosophy of
mind, philosophy of psychology) c. quantum
theory, mathematics - their results
support our model and the principles of the
biopsychology of consciousness
The paradigm of the Biopsychology of
Consciousness

3. Biopsychology of Consciousness -
a new concept created by us - not
identical with the classical psychology of
consciousness (Wundt, Titchener, W. James)
- interdisciplinarity 3 main systems
of disciplines
Biopsychology, Cognitive Science, Quantum
Theory Principle purposes
- discovery
of the mechanisms of self-consciousnesss and of
Active Cognitive Consciousness (ACC)
- biopsychological
processes of the moment
Purposes based on a new concept of consciousness
and on the basic principles
The paradigm of the Biopsychology of Consciousness

  • 4. The Basic Principles of the Biopsychology of
    Consciousness
  • Biopsychological consciousness has two
    components consciousness and Cognitive
    Consciousness
  • Mind (psyche or System of Psyche SP) is not
    identical with consciousness
  • Information processing is not consciousness
  • Conscious information belongs to the
    consciousness
  • 3. Biological level or biodimension
    biostructures
  • On it can be found biological,
    chemical, physical, informational and
    consciousness processes
  • Biostructures and bioprocesses, by their
complex quality, are different from inorganic
    structures and processes
  • The process of consciousness is built on the
biolevel, it cannot be interpreted seperately
  • Consciousness a new kind of structure and
    process
  • Biopsychology of consciousness is an
    interdisciplinary science
  • The organic systems are higher levels in
    evolution, than inorganic ones
  • The level of consciousness has beeen formed from
the organic level and constitutes a higher
    evolutionary level

5. In the biopsychology of consciousness are
needed concrete, clear, unambiguous,
understandable concepts The two by us
specified basic concepts self-consciousness
and cognitive consciousness had ambiguous, large,
unexact, even in some cases different meanings
In our model these two concepts gained concrete
new meanings In English language implicit in
consciousness is awareness Mind is
extremely general, it can denote many different
entities from consciousness

  • 6.
  • Ego-consciousness is the momentary
    reproduction through the connection with
    self-consciousness of the image engraved
durably in the psyche - of the ego or I (that is
a set of images and concepts about our own
    personality)
  • Self-consciousness biologically formed in the
    moment of conception, genetically determined
  • - it is self-perception, feeling of life, the
continuity of the present wakefulness, perception
of the self-being in comparison with the living
    beings material self and surroundings
  • It is composed of two parts
  • Basic Self-Consciousness (BSC)
  • Self-Consciousness (SC)

  • 7. The Process of Binding with Consciousness
  • The activated centers of the paleocomplex and
neocortex will be connected with each other in a
    complex way
  • Informations, states of being connecting with
place mostly in neocortex the Basic
    Self-Consciousness (BSC) place paleocortex - ,
i.e. with the feeling of self-being
  • Activating-Consciousness System (ACS) it is
the whole of the neuronal impulse-transporting
network of the Ascending Reticular Activating
System (ARAS) and the Ascending Reticular
Inhibiting System (ARIS) which is a constantly
    reverberating closed circle
  • - Takes part in the process of binding with
    consciousness
  • Binding the processing with consciousness
    higher variability, more powerful, deeper,
broader, more systematized, more relevant, for it
is more attached to the inner and outer reality
  • Thus it serves better the persons integration
    into the environment
  • The Virtual-Real Holographic-Consciousness-System
(VRHCS) the scene of the process of binding
    with consciousness

A. 8. Virtual-Real Holographic Consciousness
System VRHCS it is quantum-sphere on the
macro-level, i.e. a macro-quantum-sphere it
forms a newer level, dimension, the level of
consciousness or dimension of consciousness,
that is patterned by this System of
Consciousness Consciousness System it is
called so, being different from all known
inorganic and organic systems, it is the most
complex, developed system Virtual because it
is not the reality itself, but its reproduced
copy in the System of Consciousness Real
consciousness system reproduces with its own
structures, re-creates on its own level the outer
and inner reality Holographic it is all
stereoscopic, it is a space-time system, each
part of it is in contact either directly or
indirectly with its other parts

B. VRHCS It realizes the creatures entire
three-dimensional self-conscious existence inside
the brain-system, which is its whole subjective
life In this own virtual-real holographic
reality, own space-time it lives and by this it
acts Only the conscious segment works by means
of it The macro-quantum-sphere structures of
VRHCS are formed of electromagnetic fields, the
impulses running in the neurons axodendritic
system, a saltatorical advancing and feed-back
flows, the quantum sphere of waters H-bonding,
electrons, high energy photons and corticons,
ions of micro-elements, Bose-Einstein
Condensate, newer particles from the
quantum-field Basic-VRHCS (B-VRHCS)
the holo-reproduction of the brain- and inner
organ-structure in the RS and surrounding nuclei
Central-Basic-VRHCS the central segment
of B-VRHCS Realizes the mere feeling of the
own existence

C.    VRHCS    Evolution those animals,
in which this system exists, are not only
biological automata, executing reflexes, but
conscious beings     Ontogenesis during the
growth, the changing of the individual,
Basic-Self-Consciousness, the feeling of the own
self, is not changing, the creature will feel
itself identical with itself If
during ontogenesis in brain-structure would
intervene main changes caused by the development,
then individual should possess different EGO
s, self-consciousnesses in different periods of
development, getting new personalities from time
to time

structure-processes Az alap - Information
Processing and Production (IPP)
- Action-System (AS) -
Emotional-System (ES) In ACC and C-ACC the IPP
becomes thinking (TH) The TH, AS and ES make a
more compact unity in VRHCS TH is the process
of binding with consciousness of IPP and of other
psychological processes

10. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Robots
- they do mostly information processing (less
information production) without any process of
binding with consciousness, because ? - they
have no segment of consciousness - the
Information Processing and Production is not on
the level of that of organic systems
- gt IPP exists without binding with
consciousness, this is the thinking of the
robots and computers
