  • The official process of mutual selection between
    potential new members and the fraternities
    affiliated with the Interfraternity Council (IFC)

What is intake?
  • The informal recruitment process in which the
    NPHC fraternities participate
  • The NPHC fraternities do not necessarily hold
    intake simultaneously
  • It can occur in the summer or fall, but usually
    takes place in the spring

Who is eligible for Formal Recruitment?
  • Full-time students
  • (enrolled in minimum 12 hours on Oxford campus)
  • Student must not have pledged a fraternity in the
    last 12 months
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA our of 4.0 Grade Scale
  • Below 2.5? Contact Office of Greek Life
  • Yes, athletes are eligible for Recruitment

Who is eligible for Intake?
  • Full-time students (enrolled in minimum 12 hours
    at the Oxford campus)
  • In most cases, student needs to have completed at
    least one semester (12 hours) before they can be
    considered for membership.

How do I register for Formal Recruitment?
  • To register for Formal Recruitment go to our
    website at www.olemiss.edu/greeks
  • Recruitment Registration Fee
  • 75 if you register before school begins
  • 90 if you register after August 24th
  • Register by FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14th!!

How do I register for Intake?
  • To qualify for Intake, one must attend at least
    one of two Greek Forums.
  • One Greek Forum during the Fall Spring
    Semesters.
  • After Greek Forum attendance, the remaining
    intake process is coordinated through each
    individual NPHC chapter.
  • Fall Greek Forum Thursday September 6th, 2007

  • Begins
  • Sunday, September 23rd Convocation at Ford
    Center
  • Ends
  • Sunday, September 30th
  • Bid Day

  • Potential New Members

Round 1 Wednesday, September 26th and Thursday,
September 27th
  • Visit 15 houses for 30 minutes each
  • Potential New Members will get to know members of
    each fraternity.
  • Rank the all Fraternities in your order of
    preference after your last house on Thursday.

Round 2Friday, September 28th
  • Potential New Members receive schedules with of
    invitations back.
  • 6 Parties _at_ 60 Minutes each
  • Rank the all Fraternities in your order of
    preference after your last house on Thursday.
  • What to wear Recommendation include, but are not
    limited to, collared shirt, slacks, and dress
    shoes.

Round 3 Saturday, September 29th
  • Final round of recruitment!
  • Three parties _at_ 60 min
  • An invitation from a fraternity to this round
    means that you have a bid.
  • A formal setting where Potential New Members will
    have in-depth conversations with members
  • Make your final decision.

Recruitment Counselors
  • Selected on the basis of application and
    interview
  • Members of each fraternity on campus who
    disaffiliate from their chapters
  • Guide each potential new member through
    recruitment

Additional Information
  • NO SKIPPING CLASSES TO ATTEND A RECRUITMENT
    RELATED FUNCTION!
  • A formal excuse MUST be filed in order to miss a
    party
  • If you do miss a class, you will automatically be
    released from Recruitment

  • Approximately 800 one time
  • Semester dues vary
  • Greek Forum One Time Fee to Attend

  • Recruitment Registration Fee
  • 75 if you register before school begins
  • 90 if you register after August 24th
  • Average Monthly Dues 350-450
  • Initiation Fees 100-150
  • Optional Costs (t-shirts, photos, memorabilia,
    etc.)

What is an interest meeting?
  • Meetings that are held by the NPHC fraternities
    to distribute information and to get to know
    perspective members better.
  • To find out more, consult the websites of the
    individual NPHC fraternities, available through
    the Greek Life website
