Focus on Africa Over 50 nurses representing Delta

Campaign Excellence in Nursing Award The
Excellence in Nursing Award is a part of an
annual campaign to solicit nominations from the
greater Kirksville, Missouri area to recognize
the impact of nursing excellence on the community
and promote clinical nurse leader development.
Gamma Phi Chapter and Chicagoland Consortium of
Chapters (Alpha Beta, Alpha Lambda, Alpha
Omicron, Kappa Nu, Lambda Lambda, Zeta Sigma
Chapters) Doctor of Nursing Practice
(DNP) Where Do We Stand in Chicago? A spring
consortium on the controversial yet timely topic
of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) brought
together nearly 90 individuals in dialogue on the
effect DNP could have on education and practice.

Rho Delta Chapter Serving Earthquake Victims In
the wake of the Kashmir, Pakistan earthquake in
October 2005, the founding president of the Rho
Delta chapter led a group of 10 nurses to
Muzafarabad and Kashmir to the earthquake
disaster, providing full nursing care to the
victims and providing relief to the local nurses.
Rho Delta Chapter Creating Contextual Based
Research Culture Among Nurses A research
committee assessed the needs of nurses and
created a contextual based research culture
through 8 research workshops and a research

Zeta Sigma Chapter Gracious Gifts Make London
Experience Possible Through scholarship
donations, members have an opportunity to study
psychiatric nursing at the South London and
Maudsley Trust (SLAM) and partner with nursing
students from the Florence Nightingale School of

Tau Pi Chapter Provision and Coordination of
Primary Health Care Services to Katrina
Evacuees In response to Hurricane Katrina, Tau Pi
members assisted in meeting the vast health care
needs of hundreds of evacuees at one of Baton
Rouges largest shelters located on the campus of
Southern University and AM College. (Service)
Epsilon Nu Chapter The Miraculous Induction In
the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Epsilon Nu
members were scattered across the region but
remained connected through support from
neighboring Rho Zeta Chapter in Baton Rouge and
regrouped for the Spring 2006 semester with a
priority of having a normal induction for their
31 new members in April. (Sustainability)
Beta Beta Chapter Joining Hands with
India Several North Texas chapters have an
ongoing relationship with the Rebecka Naylor
School of Nursing at Bangalore Baptist Hospital
in India and have provided new uniforms for
graduate students, established a visiting nurse
scholars program, provided an 8,000 donation to
build a new student hostel and sponsored a nurse
leader to attend Biennial Convention and guest

Iota Nu Chapter Enticement to Activism Inaugural
awards banquet recognized excellence in
education, research, community service, student
performance, mentoring, leadership and nursing,
and recruited twelve new volunteers.
Delta Theta Chapter Connected by A Silver
Thread 25th anniversary celebration featured a
two-day gala event with a formal dinner and dance
and a day-long conference on leadership and

Delta Theta Chapter On Line!!! Membership voting
improved 25 over pen and paper elections and
postage expense decreased by 40 when a chapter
website was developed and maintained by two
graduate level nursing students for course

Beta Tau Chapter Beta Tau Chapter of
Excellence Programs of excellence include food
drives, a Hurricane Katrina fundraiser, monetary
donations, international recruitment and
presentations, collaboration with other South
Florida chapters and scholarly presentations.

Fran Civilette Downs, Patricia Messmer, Barabra

Excellence Theta Tau Chapter collaborated with
the Medical Center of Central Georgia to develop

Enrichment Camp (K-NEC) offered to high school

at the Columbus Consortiums annual scholarship
night, senior family nurse practitioner students
reported on the results of their community

Excellence Events included hosting a Nursing,
Innovations and Research conference and dinner,
sponsoring the Fitness for Research 2005 at
Biennial Convention, co-sponsoring 4 conferences

Kappa Theta Chapter Eighth Annual Nursing
Research Day Over 140 individuals attended the

way to partner with community organizations, such
as the local KNA district, the Department of

Caring Science - A Model for Transforming
Nursing, a conference showcasing the work of Dr.
Jean Watson.
Beta Sigma Chapter Nursing Camp Inspiring the
Next Generation of Nurses Nursing Camp for youth
between 10-15 years old featured daily themes
from Why be a nurse? to Nurses save lives and
provided first aid and CPR training. Campers will
be polled to learn their career choices after

Theta Zeta Chapter Leadership Experience
Building Recognition and Communication for
Sigma Theta Tau Senior Amber Kroboths class
project gained formal recognition of Theta Zeta
Chapter at Bloomsburg University which resulted
with official approval for on-campus fundraising
and advertising, use of campus facilities, use of
university name or logo and inclusion of the
honor society membership on the graduates

Communication Improved member communication by
utilizing and maintaining an email directory to
promote annual renewals, fundraising events, and
knowledge, resulting in increased fundraising and

through Service One small service project that
provided first aid kits to moms at an inner city

Consortium Past, Present and Future Decisions
that Frame Our Profession of Nursing brought 73
nurses from 5 states to the National Museum of

collaborative effort with the Chester County
Nurses Association and Delta Tau-at-Large

the dissemination of knowledge through speakers

Xi Chi Chapter Membership Involvement Promoting
Service Membership Involvement Committee promotes
service through a new member interest survey,
inviting inactive members to chapter meetings, a

Kappa Chapter The Marumba Water Project
Collaboration Walk for Water A 2-Mile Walk
for Water raised over 1,800 to assist Brother
Alfred Kizas efforts to build a windmill in
Tanzania, where, within 48 hours of graduation,
he was headed to run a mental health facility
with no electricity located 2-miles from the

Mu Omicron Chapter Induction Ceremony Student
Leaders as Speakers Spring 2006 induction
featured an innovative presentation by three
DeSales University studentsa nursing student, a
biology student and a communications majorabout
their agricultural work with the indigenous
people of Peru, titled An Interdisciplinary
Approach to Global Health through the Heifer

Theta Rho Chapter Knowledge Dissemination
Everybody Wins Theta Rho Chapter established a
process to ensure dissemination of new nursing
knowledge by inviting faculty to practice
doctoral or proposal defense with an audience of
BS nursing students in research courses, MS
prepared nursing faculty as well as community

Eta Eta Chapter Chapter Newsletter and Annual
Calendar Improved chapter newsletter and created
an annual chapter calendar to keep members

the primary method of member communication.

Beta Xi Chapter Outreach as a Means of Promoting
Sigmas Strategic Directions Several chapter
service initiatives include Special Olympics,
Kids into Health Care Careers, Holiday Outreach
Program for the Mentally Ill, a free Tutoring
Program, the Memory Walk, health and hygiene kits
after Hurricane Katrina and a food drive for the
Sunday Breakfast Mission homeless shelter.

Project Beta Xi Chapter and Special
Olympics Since 2002, Beta Xi Chapter and Special
Olympics of Delaware have partnered together and

Out Increased visibility within the local
community by expanding publicity contacts to over
forty-five different media outlets and joining
the Valley Press Club of Western Massachusetts.
Tau Lambda-at-Large Chapter Debating Competition
for Pre-registration Students at Annual
Conference of Chapter From Botswana in 2004 to
Ghana in 2005 and now Durban, South Africa in
2006, an annual debating contest during the
chapters annual meeting actively involves and
develops students as leaders. (Leadership and
Theta-at-Large Chapter Collaboration with
Community A Sustainable Project Collaborated
with community leaders for their fall program to
spark interest in their chapter from nurses in
the community and featured a local clinician and
educator who presented a guide for End of Life

Community The merger of the American
International College Nursing Honor Society into
the Beta Zeta-at-Large Chapter is considered a
major chapter success. This charter amendment
represents both the sustainability of the
chapter, as well strategic direction of building
