- First, please identify the cause-and-effect core
problem (s) or central issue (s) in the proposed
problem set scenario (s) provided with the case
study (ies) construct (s).
3Challenge 2 Factual Analysis
(Beta Pair)
- Second, please provide a critical analysis of the
systemic problem (s) or issue (s) across
political, bureaucratic, technological, financial
and academic matrix relationships impacted by
compelling (a) ethical, legal, and moral (b)
stewardship and accountability (c) leadership
and stability (d) quality improvement and
assurance and (e) change and transformational
implications.
4Challenge 3 Organizational Tenets
(Delta Pair)
- Third, please assess (outcomes) the problem (s)
or issue (s) against four organizational tenets
(1) complexity theory, which refers to the
interdisciplinary exploration of a set of
theories from different angles that share focus
on a complex adaptive system and evolution. (2)
exchange analysis, which refers to overall
patterns and system dynamics of value exchange to
determine whether the value created system is
healthy, sustainable and expanded (3) generative
learning, which describes value-driven learning
that seeks radical and innovative possibilities
beyond the boundaries of current thinking and
(4) community of practice, which defines a
network of key principals or stakeholders who
share concerns and deepen their knowledge by
interacting with each other on an ongoing basis.
5Challenge 4 Diagnostic and Data-Driven
Decision-Making (Gamma Pair)
- Fourth, please discuss the scientific application
of qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis
as a diagnostic procedure to remedy the problem
(s) or issue (s). Please provide examples for
data verification and seeking empirical evidence
to support scientific application (s).
6Challenge 5 Leadership Lessons Learned
Institutional Best Practices
(Zeta Pair)
- Fifth, based on the culminating responses to all
of the above, discuss what leadership lessons
could be learned from the case study(ies),
problem(s), or issue(s), and how do these lessons
compare, complement, or contrast with
research-based or applied best practice(s). On
this capstone challenge, the Zeta Fellows must
either conduct a review of the literature for the
best practice (s) or identify an institution(s)
that utilize(s) an effective/efficient practice
(s) that may or may not be referenced in the
literature/body of work in the field.
7Creative Engagement for Stimulation
- In the interest of engaging creativity, the
problem sets may have both implicit and explicit
elements to stimulate creative thought. This may
include cognitive elements that challenge the
differentiation between fact and fiction the
recognition between reality versus rhetoric the
determination for accuracy and completeness of
information the recognition of faulty reasoning
and illogical fallacies the contrasting of
points of view and, the drawing of prudent
conclusions with an integration and synthesis
toward resolve. Elements of contradiction, irony
and hypocrisy may also be involved in the case
study (ies).
8Specified Directions for Resolve or Resolution to
the Case Study (ies)
- Fellows will be divided up into five, 2 pair
member groups, with each pair assigned to each
challenge above. The assignments should be made
based on individual and collective strengths,
skill-sets, talents, interests, expertise, etc --
allowing for the optimal leveraging and maximum
utility of intellectual capital among the
Fellows. Fellows assigned to Challenge 5 must
receive the information from the others before
completing their task. The completion of this
assignment is due in March at the San Antonio
meeting. For clarification on the directions or
