All the money suddenly turned into potatoes.
" Oh! Oh dear! Please turn my money back into

Then the wizard turned the potatoes
back into money and then disappeared.
" If you make me a solemn promise never to be
mean again, I will turn your money back,
continued the wizard.

The next day, Mr. Mean met an old washerwoman
carrying a large bundle of washing when he was
walking to town.
"Please kind sir, could you possibly help me
to carry this washing? she asked.
"No!replied Mr Mean.
13
Mr. Mean's nose turned into a carrot!
"Oh no! Yes! Yes! Of course I'll help you! Mr
Mean cried.
14
Then, Mr. Mean saw an old man chopping
wood in a garden.
"Excuse me, could you give an old man a bit of a
hand young fellow-me-lad? the old man asked.
"No!" replied Mr. Mean.
15
Mr. Mean's ears turned into tomatoes!
"Yes! Yes! Of course." Mr Mean cried.

      In the town, Mr.
Mean met a crying little boy.
"Please sir, could you reach my ball down for
me? the boy asked
"No Yes! Yes! Of course I will." Mr. Mean said.
17

"I think that Mr. Mean, if I'm not very much
mistaken, and, although I could be wrong, thank
goodness, learned his lesson. the wizard said to
himself.
The little boy stopped crying and turned into
the wizard.
