• Every 100 or 76 years Neptune switches with
  Pluto.
• If you go close enough you can see a crack in
  Neptune.
• If Neptune were hollow it could nearly hold 60 of
  our Earths.
• The location is between Uranus and Pluto.

Neptune Facts

• Voyager 2 made a fly-by visit to Neptune in 1989.
  It took valuable photos of Neptune and its
  moons. Voyager 2 found geysers of nitrogen on
  Triton.
• Neptune is the 8th planet from the sun. It is
  2.8 miles away from the sun. It is so far away
  from Earth that it can only be seen by a
  telescope.
• One day on Neptune is the same as 23 Earth hours.

All About Neptune

• One year on Neptune is 165 1/2 Earth years. That
  is how long it takes Neptune to travel around the
  sun.
• Neptunes diameter (distance from one side to the
  other through the middle of the planet) is 49,500
  miles. This planet is about as about same size
  as Uranus.
• Neptune has mysterious spots on it that are
  thought to have been caused by storms in the
  planets atmosphere. These spots are named The
  Great Dark Spot and Dark Spot 2.

Neptunes moon, Triton.

• Neptune has 8 known moons. Triton has is very
  cold. Hydrogen, helium, and methane become
  liquid at very cold temperatures. So Triton has
  geysers and volcanoes of nitrogen on its surface.
• Tritons surface is covered with nitrogen and
  methane ice.
• Triton is Neptunes largest moon.

On Neptune

• There is a storm system rotating
  counterclockwise.
• It has almost invisible rings.
• Neptunes moon, Triton, is slowly getting closer
  to Neptune. Eventually, it will get so close
  that it will get torn apart by Neptunes gravity
  and possible form rings more spectacular than
  Saturns.
• The strongest winds in the Solar System have been
  recorded on Neptune, at speeds of up to 2,000
  kilometers per hour.

Did You Know?

• Neptune has dark spots similar to the Great Red
  Spot on Jupiter. These are areas of high
  atmospheric pressure which force clouds of
  methane gas high up into the atmosphere,
  appearing like cirrus (thin, whispy) clouds on
  Earth. However, these spots disappear and
  reappear on different parts on the planet, unlike
  Jupiters spot.
• Triton orbits Neptune in the opposite direction
  to the planets rotation. It is the only large
  moon in the Solar System to do this.
