Title: Food Presentations
1FOODSCAPES The British Photgrapher Carl Wa
rner created a series of landscape images
utilizing basic food ingredients found in a
typical Kitchen. The images foodscapes (made
up of the words Food and Landscapes) show scenes
including Caverns Submarines Forests Beaches
etc. using fruits Legumes Cheeses Pastas
Breads among others.
2 The Forest of Dean or the Forest of Greens The
road is paved with cumin peas hang from broccoli
trees and cauliflower clouds adorn the sky with
bread for mountains.
3 The photographer is known in his neighborhood
of Kent in England as he spends hours in stores
looking for the best pieces of brocoli peppers
fruits etc. to compose the landscape scenes.
To achieve depth To give a realistic
three-dimensional feel to the photographs each
still life is composed on a table measuring 8ft
by 4ft. The foreground is only about 2ft across.
In addition they are taken in stages so the
fresh foods do not get wilted or stale before the
photo is finished.
4 Edible ingredients in this Italian-inspired
rural scene include a lasagna cart fields of
pasta a pine nut wall mozzarella clouds trees
of peppers and chilies and a parmesan village.
5 I like to the way small aspects of nature
look a lot like the larger counterparts. says
Carl Warner. He also confeses that up to n
ow he has not been able to convince his four
kids to eat their vegetables. At least I cann
ot say that they enjoy eating fruits and
vegetables as much as I do says Carl.
6 This Cavern is made with fruits of the sea. The
rocks are made of bread but the ones on the
bottom of the sea are cauliflower. To give the
dimension of depth the landscape is on a 3x3
foot table.
7 Rice coconuts several grains and a sky made
of cabbage make up this pastoral scene.
8 This one is made from lettuce leaves rocks of
sweet and red potatoes canyon walls made of
bread and the sky of red cabbage...
9 This reddish sea on this beach scene at
sunset is made up of salmon filets. The rocks are
of potatoes and bread. And the small boat made of
a green pea pod complete the scene.
