Students Views
  • In general, I had no idea what a broad role a
Practice Nurse had in general practice.  I had no
idea just how interesting a job it might be, or
how long it will take me to learn everything
    that's involved!

12
Students Views
  • I think the course is great and just what was
needed for trainee practise nurses I feel
overcome by the amount I have to learn.

13
Students View
  • i had an experience at work when i was the only
nurse on duty and the GP had referred a patient
who was complaining of ear problems - the GP
referred her to me after asking if i could do ear
irrigation and when i assessed her alarm bells
rang - she had many contraindications including
previous mastoid surgery and recent infections
and was normally referred to ENT for treatment.
Thankfully i explained to the patient why i was
unable to treat her and she understood. When i
looked in her ear it was very unusual and i
couldnt see a tympanic membrane so i am so
grateful to having listened to your lecture on
ear care and being able to explain to the patient
why i was unable to do what the GP had asked me
    to do.
