Agroecology On-farm Undergraduate Internship
Learn about Agroecology on a working farm
during a 12 week educational paid internship
with collaborating Pennsylvania Farmers, fellow
interns, and a multidisciplinary faculty team
from The Pennsylvania State University, College
of Agricultural Sciences. Faculty have
expertise in agroecology, agricultural extension
education, entomology, crop ecology, plant
pathology physiology, soil microbial ecology,
vegetable crops, and weed ecology. Spend a
preparatory week with faculty at Penn State, and
10 weeks of experiential learning on a farm with
the farmer, a fellow intern, and with visits from
faculty. Conduct an independent project and
gather educational agroecology resources on the
farm. Spend the final 10 days at Penn State
developing agroecology educational materials with
faculty assistance. The Internship period is
May 24, 2004 to August 16, 2004 with a 3,800
stipend. Undergraduates studying agriculture,
ecology, or a related field, with an interest in
agroecology and obtaining farm experience should
apply by January 10, 2004. Students can register
